6/5/12

i was there : red hot chili peppers

Show: Red Hot Chili Peppers
Little Dragon

Location: All State Arena

Date: 5.28.12

Favorite Song: I got a little nervous about this show when I heard that RHCP had been playing a lot of their new stuff during the sets. I was pleasantly surprised when they played all of their older, more popular songs. Some of my favorites were "By the Way," "Otherside," & "Under the Bridge."

Memorable Moment: When I saw some of the wardrobe choices I was a little wary that these were just a bunch of old dudes still trying to act young, but Flea proved me wrong when he started walking around the stage on his hands. Very impressive!

Biggest Letdown: This would probably have to be the venue. Give me a small, intimate show over an arena any day.

This Show: was nostalgic. And not just for me, but for a lot of people in attendance. It was cool to be at a show with such a wide range of ages & that's totally a testament to the type of group the RHCP are. Some people at the show were likely fans from the very early beginnings. Others, like me, were more of those mid-level fans that really got into the band in the late 90's & early 2000's with Californication & By The Way. Finally, there were the itty bitty high schoolers traveling to Rosemount from their own nearby suburb that were probably seeing the Red Hot Chili Peppers for the first time.
