j is for...

June & July (& a little bit of August)

Summer is among us and I must say, I’m quite excited for the warm weather and sunshine! I absolutely love heat. If I could live in a bikram yoga studio, I probably would. Perfect weather for me is the 100 degree dry heat of Vegas in August. I can’t get enough.

I love Chicago and I really love it during those few warm months of Summer. In Chicago, June & July are all about music festivals, baseball games, drinking on patios and rooftop bars, spending the weekends at North Avenue or Oak Street beaches, neighborhood street festivals and so much other goodness. If you’ve never visited Chicago in the Summer, you should probably add it to your must-see list!

Here’s a look at some of my Summer plans:

June 5-6: Division Street Fest
Great neighborhood & surprisingly good headliners.

June 12-13: Old Town Art Fair
My favorite of the street festivals.

June 18-19: My brother’s wedding weekend

July 16-18: Pitchfork Music Festival
I bought tickets for Saturday, but I'm also contemplating going Sunday

July 24-25: Taste of Lincoln Ave
I'm getting a little burnt out of my neighborhood after living in Lincoln Park for 5 years, but this festival is usually pretty fun. (and by fun I mean drunk).

August  6-8: Lollapalooza
Phoenix, Matt & Kim, The xx, Hot Chip, Cut Copy, The National... Oh my goodness! I'm so excited.

August 13: HARD
Hopefully I recover from Lollapalooza in time for this awesome night of music!

August 22: Vintage Bazaar
I love a good flea market.

August 25: Ray LaMontagne & David Grey
Concerts at the Jay Pritzker Pavillion are truly amazing & I have a feeling that this combo of artists is going to make for a really magical evening.

So that schedule should keep my weekends busy for a bit. I also need to plan a weekend to get back to St. Louis (preferably while the Cardinals are in town!)

Otherwise, you can probably find me watching sports on an outdoor bar patio, laying out at the beach, or wandering around this amazing city. I'm sure I'll stumble upon some more concerts & baseball games as well

  1. Wow, your summer looks a lot like mine! Busy every weekend with weddings, festivals and road trips, with some pool time and baseball games in between! It's crazy, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

  2. Agreed! It makes up for all of the time I spend tucked indoors during the Winter.
