If you asked me a year ago as I was holding my best friends hand while she was getting her tattoo if I would ever get a tattoo, the answer would most certainly be "no." I still am about 99.99% sure I will never get inked, but I keep finding myself getting more & more drawn to them. I think it is a beautiful art form & I really respect the work of some of these artists.
If you put a gun to my head right now & told me I had to get a tattoo, I think I know what I'd choose. I have 2 favorites quotes:
"the best thing god created is a new day" - sigur ros
&
"i wouldn't change one stupid decision for another five years of life" - lcd soundsystem
I think I would pick one of those in a lovely script someplace indiscreet. I would also probably do it in white ink. I'm sure that makes ink-advocates cringe, but I like to be pretty subtle . It's like having your own little secret. I like them on these 3 placements the best:
What about you -- Do you have a tattoo or would you ever get one? Which is your favorite design above?

I know it sounds bad (white trash, tacky, what-have-you), but I would like the name of my future, fictional, imaginary wife's name tattooed around my ring ringer. It worked for Pam & Tommy Lee, right?
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing else that I can imagine having permantenly on me than something marriage related. Maybe names of my children across my heart, but I wouldn't want kids to feel guilty if they changed their name to match a spirit animal as a 19 year old.
For now, I use a quote from NBAer Ray Allen to explain the absence of ink and piercings, "Why mess with perfection." (it's less of a joke with him of course)
That is a great quote! I think I've come to the conclusion that I like SOME tattoos, but that still doesn't overcome my fear of commitment.
